  1. ON POLITICALLY CORRECT LANGUAGE

    This term, “attack” is so often abused by those who falsely believe that their sensibilities can redefine language and true meanings thereof. It seems to me that too many are tossing language about without the slightest thought to context.

    This sort of thing was revealed during the so-called ‘feminist revolution’, when the display of a scantily clad beautiful woman was said to be an “attack” on the sensibilities of the pathetic fat, and ugly sows that had to suck on each other for relief. It is this era of the 1960s that I recall as the genesis of ‘PC’, the PR for a ‘politically correct’ regimentation of society for the “ideals of equality”.

    Reason tells the lucid thinker that an “attack” is a physical ‘act’ in it’s most basic context. The principles of liberty should remind that freedom of speech protects the speaker from accusations of ‘attacking’ another by the use of mere language or expression alone. ‘Insult’ is only harmful when the one ‘insulted’ takes the ‘insult’ seriously and is bothered by it in their own psyche. It is more that the act of ‘being insulted’ is the interior ‘act’ of an insecure personality, and the sign of over emotional juvenile thinking.

    Assault in the real world is reaching out and touching someone physically. One cannot assault another over the internet by the use of language. One can indeed be assaulted if one is acted upon in such a way as to interfere with one’s online activities. Such as the arbitrary purging of someones’ work from a community site, using the very excuses I speak to here, claiming that such work is “an attack” on others in the community. When in fact, only the self appointed ‘authority’ has the capability of ‘acting’ in such a way as to cause real harm beyond the uses of language as far as real effect is concerned.

    By the way, I used that illustration above about the ‘feminist revolution’, purposely to show the type of language that is often characterized as “an attack”. It can be fairly characterized as ‘crass’ as being ‘in bad taste’ as being ‘uncivil’ and many other such complaints – BUT it is not an attack. It is expression of OPINION.

    So how is there any prospect for “changing the world”, when we look at the microcosms reflecting the macro version of culture and society and see the same errors in miniature? We see time and again, groups coming together in ‘protest’ of the way in which the world is managed by the elites. We see them writing about Liberty, Free Speech and Opinion. But the attack on the shopping mall was obama’s fault.     I disagree with this analysis. I think that Blakeney and those he cites are working from a false paradigm, one that confuses manufactured appearances with with a deeper reality underneath.

    I would posit that the assertion that, “the U.S. And Israel are two different, autonomous, sovereign states,” is balderdash. A global regime of ‘interdependence’ trumps any interests of individual states that find themselves serving the interests of the combined economic power of the central authority – the actual power behind all thrones.
    This global power is known by many names, but it is most simple to refer to it as the New World Order. The actual architecture of modern political power is yet still hidden in plain-sight due to the clever conditioning of the common mind.

    Merlin is a wizard featured in many British legends. Though he first appeared under the name Myrddin Wyllt (Merlin the wild) in Welsh literature as a half-crazed prophet of the forest, he is perhaps most famous as a central figure in the Arthurian legend. He is most commonly depicted as the adviser of King Arthur.

    Merlin is a “Magus Maverik” – a powerful rogue personality that creates his own legend of his own will.

    It is unusual that Merlin, one of the most famous proponents of Muggle rights and tolerance, would be placed in Slytherin, a house strongly associated with anti-Muggle views, although since he was such an ambitious person with all his plans for the Order of Merlin, it is not entirely surprising. Slytherins aren’t necessarily evil or bad, nor is there any information whether or not the House of Slytherin actually held the same views in Merlin’s time.

    In fact, the entire placement of Merlin at Hogwarts is paradoxical. Hogwarts was founded in the 9th/10th century, and while the early 9th century was the time the first records of the Arthur-myth were written, the actual myth plays around the year 500 A.D., meaning that the ‘historical’ Merlin in fact predates Hogwarts by roughly five-hundred years. However Merlin, being the wizard he is, was probably allowed adult education to further his magical studies and abilities in the search to become more powerful.

  11. In the last 10 – 12 years I have seen the proficiency of the www drop dramatically. The newest “hi-tech” browsers being molasses slow, sites being unavailable; generally an increasingly more frustrating and patience rending experience. When I was first doing the Internet, all that was needed was a sufficiently powerful computer. Now no-matter how much memory and how efficient the machine, the ‘improvements’ to the www system has turned to shit. And this is obviously purposeful as a strategy of tension…for all users. Everything is built to cause stress in this culture. Even making doing commercial business less efficient is alright, because the bottom line is not economic, it is raw political control that is the central agenda.

    Scalia said that before the court’s 1967 opinion on wiretapping, the high court held the view that there were no constitutional prohibitions on wiretaps because conversations were not explicitly granted privacy protection under the Fourth Amendment, which protects against Americans against unreasonable search and seizure of “their persons, houses, papers, and effects.”
    But he said then the Warren court stepped in and found that “there’s a generalized right of privacy that comes from penumbras and emanations, blah blah blah, garbage.”

    Of course anyone who understands the rights of Liberty knows that Scalia the scaly is disparaging other rights “retained by the people”, as spoken to in the 9th Amendment.     The voice is in the consciousness of the listener. In the same way the perception of an aware digital mind, will only be in the perception of the one beholding such a “mind”.

    The problem is the perception of and definition of “consciousness”, a failure in meta-reasoning.

    DW: Can the US-Russian backed UN draft resolution achieve its goal of destroying the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons arsenal?
    Dr. Joshua Landis: It’s much more likely to achieve it than American bombing. An American strike on Syria would have blown up some buildings and killed some Syrian soldiers and others, but it wouldn’t have done anything to destroy chemical weapons. It might have deterred Assad for sometime.
    But this process deters Assad for at least one year, one would assume, from using his weapons. And it holds out the promise of Russian pressure on Assad to cough up the weapons. Now, Russia may have to pay Assad with more conventional weapons to get the things out.
    But it’s a net positive over what the alternatives were. Otherwise, Obama was going to do this all by himself with no support from the international community or from his own people, which was a very precarious political position to be in. At least now, he has international support to root out these weapons.
    Where does that leave the Syrian rebels? It leaves them in a better position because Assad is less likely to use chemical weapons for the next year at least, and probably forever, which means they don’t get killed by chemical weapons, which is better than before. It neutralizes a big element of his arsenal.
    By jointly backing the UN resolution, the United States and Russia appear to be on the same side of the Syrian conflict for the first time. Will this cooperation bring any political progress in Syria?
    I don’t think so. It depends on what kind of progress you’re looking for. If you’re looking for the division of Syria and a possible cease-fire along present lines, then it brings us closer. If you’re looking for a Sunni win over the Assad government, it does not.
    If you’re looking for the end of a refugee crisis and so forth through the division of Syria – into a regime Syria and a rebel-run Syria – this could actually bring us closer because America is less likely to encourage the rebels to go for a win, and that is already taking the wind out of the rebel effort.

    So basically, the rebels in Syria understand that Obama is more interested in chemical weapons than in helping the rebels. In fact, what this whole effort is saying to them is that the only thing that Obama considers worse than Assad having chemical weapons is the rebels having chemical weapons.
    Does that mean, in private, the US position is actually closer to the Russian position than stated publicly?
    Yes, it always had been. That’s why America has been turning to Russia since the beginning for a resolution in the UN instead of just bombing Syria. We could do an Iraq on Syria. In Iraq, it took us three weeks to destroy Saddam. But we could probably destroy Assad in much less than that. But we don’t want to because we don’t like what the rebels offer us.
    The Russians have been telling us [the United States] since Afghanistan that what we’re doing in the Middle East is not bringing democracy; it’s bringing failed states and more Islamism and terrorism.
    I think the United States has come around to the Russian thinking on this, which is why you’re hearing so little about democracy promotion from Obama, and you’re hearing a lot about containment and managing conflict – patchwork security. These are the code words for “we don’t trust Arabs to be democratic.”
    The draft resolution says that if Syria doesn’t comply and destroy its chemical weapons, then the Security Council may take Chapter VII measures. But a second resolution has to be adopted for that. Will Russia change its position toward sanctions and the use of force, if Syria doesn’t comply?
    We don’t know what Russia will exactly do. Obviously this is weak. Lots of Americans are apoplectic at [Secretary of State John] Kerry: That he’s been outmaneuvered by Russia; that [Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov is the wily fox and knows the UN; that Russia owns the UN. We’re hearing all of these sweet phrases out of very angry American right-wingers. And some not so right-wingers, some liberal hawks [too].
    But the fact of the matter is America has a very weak hand here. We don’t want to own Syria. Obama doesn’t want to open the money spigot on the Syrian problem. He has no faith that America can fix the Syria problem. We basically had an infinite amount of money to spend on Iraq and couldn’t fix anything. And the same in Afghanistan. So the Russians have a strong hand – we’re telling the Russians: You fix this problem.
    We’re not going to get the UN to sign a Chapter VII. At any rate, the only people who would bomb Syria on a Chapter VII are America. We don’t need a Chapter VII to bomb them – Obama can fly his jets over there anytime he wants, and he’ll be all alone. And he will be [alone] even if the UN signs a Chapter VII, because I’m sure Germany isn’t going to send any jets over there to bomb Syria. Nor is France for that matter, even if they talk big. And England has already made clear that they’re not going to do it. Chapter VII or no Chapter VII, it all adds up to the same thing: If Obama wants to police this, he can bomb them.
    Now what Obama got out of the UN is better because it gives the Russians leverage over the Syrians. The Russians can say they’re holding back the Americans. And the Americans are going to be sitting there with a magnifying glass trying to point out everywhere Syrians are cheating. Ultimately, will they get every chemical weapon? I doubt it. But will they get a lot? They probably will, because Assad doesn’t want to get bombed.
    Are Assad and Russia serious about destroying the chemical weapons, or is this a way to buy time for the regime?
    The regime looks at it as a way to buy time. America looks at it as a serious way to destroy the weapons. And Russia isn’t quite sure. What we had three weeks ago is America was going to unilaterally destroy a Russian client, which was going to make Russia look weak. Today, America is sitting down with Russia and letting Russia manage this affair. It’s much better for Russia; it’s much better for Assad; but it’s also better for America. It’s a win, win, win.
    We have to remember – America has no strategic interests in Syria, very few. We’ve had sanctions on Syria since the seventies; we have no trade with the country; we don’t talk to them diplomatically about anything except for stopping terrorism and support for Hamas and Hezbollah. And today, Syria doesn’t support either group with any money or any arms because it’s too busy supporting itself. In fact, Syria is a net drain for both those groups.
    So Syria is actually doing the right thing from the point of view of American interests by eating up its military machine and destroying itself. Now of course, there’s potential spillover in the region, and destabilizing Jordan and Lebanon, but so far it’s pretty good. Those countries have not collapsed. Turkey is weaker than it was. The situation is not bad for America if you want to look at it cold hearted.
    Sure it puts stress and it’s creating a big al Qaeda problem. Obama wanted to declare victory over al Qaeda once he killed Bin Laden and say that he had attrited and destroyed two-thirds of the al Qaeda leadership. The problem is that what we’re watching in Syria and Iraq is the resurrection of an al Qaeda two. And it’s much bigger and much more numerous than it ever was in Afghanistan. There are thousands of jihadists getting front line training and actually developing an Islamic state, because Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant owns big swathes of Syria.
    Assad’s strategy is to help turn the rebel-owned north of Syria into Kandahar and then to offer his services to America and Russia as the person who can help them solve their al Qaeda problem. That’s what he’s telling America and the world every time he gets on TV.

Credit: Jesús Abad Colorado/IPS(IPS) – The United States needs to phase down its drug war and tighten the reins on its cooperation with local militaries and police in Latin America, according to a new report released here Wednesday by three influential think tanks.

    Of particular interest is the increase in training deployments to Latin American and the Caribbean by the Special Operations Forces (SOF) – elite units like the Army’s Green Berets and Navy SEALS – due in part to the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq and drawdown from Afghanistan.

    Over the past decade, SOF ranks have more than doubled to about 65,000, and their commander, Adm. William McRaven, has been particularly aggressive in seeking new missions for his troops in new theaters, including Latin America and the Caribbean where they are training thousands of local counterparts.

    “You can train a lot of people for the cost of one helicopter,” Adam Isacson, an analyst with the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA), told IPS.

    He noted that the increased investment in SOF was part of a much larger Pentagon strategy of maintaining a “light (military) footprint” in countries around the globe while bolstering its influence with local military institutions.

    The Pentagon, however, is much less transparent than the State Department, and its programs are often not subject to the same human-rights conditions and do not get the same degree of Congressional oversight.

    Moreover, McRaven has sought the authority to deploy SOF teams to countries without consulting either U.S. ambassadors there or even the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), making it even more difficult for civil society activists to track what they’re doing and whether they’re working with local units with poor human-rights records that would normally be denied U.S. aid and training under the so-called Leahy Law.

    Last summer, according to Isacson, McRaven’s command even tried to work out an agreement with Colombia to set up a regional special operations coordination center there without consulting SOUTHCOM or the embassy.

    “What these developments mean is that the military role in foreign policy-making is becoming ever greater, and military-to-military relations come to matter more than diplomatic relations,” he said. “What does that mean for civil-military relations not only in the region, but also here at home?”

    The 32-page report, entitled “Time to Listen”, describes U.S. policy as “on auto-pilot”, largely due to the powerful bureaucratic interests in the Pentagon and the Drug Enforcement Administration and their regional counterparts that have built up over decades.

    “The counter-drug bureaucracies in the United States are remarkably resistant to change, unwilling to rethink and reassess strategies and goals,” said Lisa Haugaard, director of the Latin America Working Group Education Fund (LAWGEF) which released the report along with WOLA and the Centre for International Policy (CIP).

    The report also noted that new security technologies, including drones, whose use by the U.S. and other countries is growing quickly throughout the region, and cyber-spying of the kind that prompted this week’s abrupt cancellation by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff of her state visit here next month, pose major challenges to the security environment and civil liberties in the region.

    Total U.S. aid to Latin America hit its highest level in more than two decades in 2010 – nearly 4.5 billion dollars – due to the costs of the “Merida Initiative”, a multi-year program for fighting drug-trafficking in Mexico and Central America, and a major inflow of assistance to help Haiti recover from that year’s devastating earthquake.

    But aid fell sharply in 2011 – to just 2.5 billion dollars – and is expected to decline to just 2.2 billion dollars in fiscal 2014, which begins Oct. 1.

    Military and security assistance also reached its height in 2010, at 1.6 billion dollars, but has since declined to around 900 million dollars, largely as a result of the phase-out of Plan Colombia and the Merida Initiative. Central America is the only sub-region in which aid, including non-security assistance, is increasing significantly.

    But Isacson says dollar amounts can be deceptive, and while “big ticket” aid packages are down, “other, less transparent forms of military-to-military co-operation are on the rise,” in part due to the migration of many programs’ management from the State Department, which has more stringent reporting and human rights conditions, to the Pentagon.

    A troubling trend, according to the report, is that some countries, especially Colombia, have begun training military and police forces in their neighbors, often with U.S. funding and encouragement.

    In that respect, these third-country trainers act as private contractors who are not subject to U.S. human-rights laws and whose cost is a fraction of that of their U.S. counterparts.

    Despite their security forces’ own highly controversial human rights record, Colombian officers have been given major roles, for example, in Washington’s Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) and the Merida Initiative, as well as in Honduras’ police reform, according to the report.

    “Bringing the military into the streets can result in grave human-rights violations,” according to Haugaard who also noted U.S. involvement in poorly designed and heavy-handed counter-drug operations, such as one in Honduras last year in which four passengers in a river taxi were killed by a joint Honduran-DEA operation.

    Washington’s record has not been all bad, according to the report, which praised the Obama administration’s insertion of human rights into its high-level bilateral dialogues with Mexico, Colombia, and Honduras and its emphasis on the importance of civilian trials for soldiers implicated in serious rights abuses in Colombia and Mexico.

    The administration has also taken some steps to strengthen enforcement of the Leahy Law, which denies U.S. aid and training to foreign military units that are credibly accused of serious rights abuses, according to the report. It also praised Washington’s support for Colombia’s peace process and its defense of the Inter-American human rights system against recent attempts by Venezuela, Ecuador and Bolivia to weaken it.

    Still, Washington’s own human rights record, including its failure to close the Guantanamo detention facility, its newly revealed extensive surveillance programs, and a drone policy that justifies extra-judicial executions opens it to charges of double standard, the report noted.

    Yes, it is I the same Noah. I have been involved in 911TM since 2001, finding first the work of Alex Jones at that time as my introduction. I spent a good time later at Tragedy and Hope community and enjoy the openness and civility of discussion there. I like to dabble in learning physics (alternative often, but I like to compare to the standard), and have a passion for permaculture which I use mainly growing food around the house (I took a certification course after studying it a couple years online).         I am just getting a feel for Photon’s debunking methods. He seems to post generalities and then make people hound him for details of where it came from, never following up. How would you characterize him?

        Your mention of Sharon Tate brings my mind to the question of the Manson family murders and what the truth was of those cases. I’m guessing you’ve got some thoughts on it. Some variations of narratives I’ve encountered include:
        a) mind controlled followers of Manson doing actual killing – Manson being a Satan-worshiping hippie
        b) mind controlled followers of Manson doing actual killing – while Manson was handled by intelligence
        c) insiders and people more traditionally controlled by intelligence (Manson + followers) creating the illusion of killings (or perhaps with more or less activity by Manson + followers)

        I’ve read Dave McGowan’s online work and unexpectedly Miles Mathis’ paper on the subject (the artist/physics dabbler/news analyst) most recently (I can find the link if you are interested).

        More broadly, what do you think of the trend in alternative media/investigations that places more and more public events in the category of hoaxes rather than actual events that are false flags (just the identity is hoaxed, not the general event as portrayed by the media and prosecutors)? I can probably find this by searching your recent material, but I thought I’d just ask for your general take on the trend. I half expect 9/11 to be declared a hoax soon if it’s not already, but I don’t rule out hoaxes as possibilities. Sandy Hook seems to be of the hoax variety, but its pretty confusing as a big picture. It almost feels like an expansion pack to the Matrix, especially targeted for those trying to separate the fact from fiction of official stories.

        As per the blowup with McKee; it is pretty simple he was hosting James Fetzer on the thread just previous to the moon-hoax thread. Fetzer in my view is a mole, a disinformant who ingratiated (wormed his way) into the so-called Truth Movement on two topics; the JFK Assassination and then the events of 9/11.

But I argued back that hosting Fetzer who was then reiterating his claims on those topics right on the thread where Craig was claiming having nothing to do with supporting those issues would have the appearance of ‘support’ nevertheless.

        Craig was already feeling put upon by some of Ken Doc’s comrades arguing with him, and felt I was just giving him more grief because I “hate Fetzer”….

        Finally Craig put me on moderation, none of my following comments were allowed to show – while Fetzer was allowed to keep bantering on.

        I said “Fuck it” and quit the forum. Then Craig said he banned me… then Adam Ruff attempted to negotiate a truce between up by 3 way email. Craig was so pissed off by that time that his very first email to Ruff was that he would NEVER allow me to post on T&S again….”EVER!!!”
